Man the ugly animal…

he knew from the smell

she was nearby

mating season it was

carefully, quietly he lurked

not wanting to scare her

as he climbed the ridge

there she was

bristling and beautiful

camouflaging himself he approached

a BEAST in a jeep

a gun in hand

pointed at him

Save our Tigers… only 1411 are left of this magnificient animal that is our National Animal… !!! Let us ensure that our kids get to see this magnificient animal in all its glory in the wild… !!!! Lets all spread awareness and save The TIGER !!

So true, Hitchy! Man is indeed the ugliest animal.. I was reading something on similar lines..It is sad that we are so selfish, with no regards to the other creatures who have a much right to live here as wee do..

  2. vimmuuu says:

Hitchy, this is really nice ! Lovved it !

ohh, except the title 😀 😀 😀 It should have been Humans instead of man ; the title was very misleading you see 😀 😀 😀

  3. Deeps says:

Brilliant 55-er,Hitchy! Yes,its high time we realized that every creature has as much right to live in this world as us.

‘Let us ensure that our kids get to see this magnificient animal in all its glory in the wild’-so very well said,Hitchy.
let us all do our bit,let us save our national animal from getting extinct.

  4. Indian Homemaker says:

So true Hitchie, we are the worst. How many tigers did we kill, and how – to have reached this number! Pictures of proud hunters with cubs and their mother lying dead at their feet are still displayed in their grand-children’s homes. Their great grand children will now only have pictures.

When there were enough tigers, we could ‘afford to hunt’. When there was no immediate risk of ‘nature’s balance’ being disturbed, no food chain worries, and no risk that future human generations might miss out on the joy and beauty of a live tiger (created by nature specially for human viewing) we could kill a tiger. Now we can’t because we might find ourselves inconvenienced if all the tigers die.

We have no doubt that everything in nature is created for human convenience.

The ad with the cub waiting for his mother to return is amazing but so sad! I am making a post of this comment… I would like to do my bit too, although frankly I have no hope 😦

  5. mandira says:

    Dear Dhirenbhai,

Thank you very much for the response on my E-mail. I need to still work a lot to start this kind of blog. I have seen you blog many times and the content what you have on your blog is very good. I still have to work on my English and spellings as you will see that there is 2 mistake on my this mail.

In future I am sure I will have some things on these lines.

Thank you for your motivation which means a lot to me.

  7. Kanagu says:

    Very nice 55-er with a msg bhai… 🙂 🙂
But the number of tigers is really low… I am worried… As you Have mentioned… Human are the beasts 😡

  8. Sakshi says:

Wonderful 55-er and am so sad to know that only 1411 of Tigers are left. Seriously, doesn’t the so called Wildlife preservers take care of the hunters?? 😯

  9. tikulicious says:

I have been a part of this campaign since my teenage days. Will be doing my bit. Every Tiger counts and not just that there are so much of our wild life that needs to be protected. Will post your blog link in mine if you permit. Thanks for roaring for the tiger.

  10. Phoenixritu says:

    “What are you? An animal???”

Reply ” No ! Worse! I am human”

We hunt and kill for sport, not to eat. damage the environment and then thing no end of ourselves …. Sigh!

  11. Crafty Shines says:

Ur 55er about wife putting salt in coffee is second place now, coz this is tops!!!

this was really wonderful… and coming from a tiger enthusiast and admirer… 😀

    way to go hobbes!!

that ad was touching too…waiting for his mother, who may not return

have u watched Bambi? reminded me of the scene where the mother asks the fawn to run while she will be behind him, and he does run, and when he looks back, he never finds her again

saying this for like a millionth time, we are an undeserving species.

  12. Badz says:

Do you know what Dhiren?? I didn’t know of the stats of tigers and the fact that they are decreasing day by day. So this was a good eye opener (well atleast for me) and I agree with everyone. Well written and hats off to you. 🙂

  13. Nimmy says:

It is the time of “Survival of the fittest”..If tigers are fit, they will remain,no matter how much we endanger them..Nature has its own rules of letting creatures in and out.. 🙂

I like tigers..But at the same time,I am not that crazy about protecting endangered creatures.Lot of humans too die. That doesn’t mean we are endangered, yes i know that numbers too matter. When one disappear, another will appear..

    • Indian Homemaker says:

Nimmy this is not natural extinction, the tigers are being killed by humans – for humans the effects would be as harmful or worse than pollution, chemicals in the soil, food and air etc. The results will affect the food chain, when tigers die nobody eats the deer and all the grass is eaten by the deer, no grass means lots more soil erosion, and either floods or scanty rainfall… because of the food-chain, and for a thousand other reasons humans need to stop thinking that they have more right to live on this planet than rest of the creatures. If we do not think that now we will also become extinct and we will destroy the entire planet with us 😦

      • hitchwriter says:

Totally agree with IHM, Nimmy.. survival of the fittest… !!! right…. but thats a jungle theory.. we have guns, bull dozers, and what not… we are not playing this game fairly are we ??

wonder if some Noah has already got the message… and is building an Ark to restore the balance in this planet… sigh !

  14. Ordinary Guy says:

    😛 😛 😛
I am extremely pessimistic about the situation of the royal tiger dude….. I think in a couple of decades, we will not have any left except in zoos………

liked the reference to humans as the beasts 😛
