juniors and seniors…

as the sweat trickles down my brow…
seems like we are set for another row…

as strange as it may sound…
I have certainly found…

we hurt them the most…
whom we love the most…

but then, in the moment of heat…
we lose all senses so neat… 😦

and then is the time for the setting in of ego…
try whatever it refuses to go… !

it was so much better earlier…
two blows to each other…

‘n the issue used to settle…
but now its like a kettle…

the simmering happens inside…
and the boil doesnt go outside…

better still was the cricket field…
a bouncer, a hook, a slog and everything was justified…

oh why do we grow up…
oh why should we put up…

Hey, what with all these poems? No work?

“oh why do we grow up…
oh why should we put up…”

Ah, I wonder about this all the time…Life was so much simpler back then…

    E-go ! E-go!
    creatures of the mind
    chant,
    in the
    unbearable heat
    of a Gujarat summer….

    But
    a shade
    of a ma’s saree pallu,
    a glass of
    cool chhaas,
    visions
    of the season’s
    last aam,
    memories
    of aam raas
    extracted in fun
    in a big patela,
    and a sprinkling
    of tears
    which you
    thought
    was rain,
    gets the “E” out….

    Cloud laden
    with friendship,
    peace
    and rain,
    and
    It’s now Go ! Go! Go!….

@Shilpa from under the rainbow – the lil bro… wonder if he is being difficult to me or me to him 😛

      @Shilpa – E- must go.. ! 😐

@Nam – nothing much… but I am poetic these days waiting for the rains !!! 😛

  4. Sandhya says:

    ‘we hurt them the most…
whom we love the most…’ You had quoted this line earlier too, so true, Dhiren.

‘it was so much better earlier…
two blows to each other…’ My sons also should ‘think’ like this, but as you have written the ‘ego’ doesn’t allow…

‘oh why do we grow up…’ everyone will be thinking like this!

    Beautiful lines, Dhiren!

As Suranga says, in her own beautiful lines, ‘Ma is there to cool you down’..

  5. Smitha says:

You are getting all poetic 🙂 Is that the effect of the heat 🙂

‘and then is the time for the setting in of ego…

    two blows to each other…

So true, Hitchy! We grown ups do complicate things don’t we .

  6. Anonymously Disguised says:

I will not at any cost say that “the poem is awesome” 😡

Ohh btw who are you showing that ego to? your friends, bro or god forbid Hetal?? 😈

psst…psst… the heat and the aam is really transforming you into HitchyDas

Everybody’s posting on growing up and kids and all!
I just read Swaram and I almost want to cut copy the comment here!
What does life make out of us? Really…
From sweet innocent kids we turn into hypocrites, into people who can’t be trusted. And some how all the innocence just vanishes away…

  8. Pal says:

Wonderful!!! Didn’t know you were a poet. Or is this a guest post? LOL 🙂
No, seriously, a very nice poem. Speaks of harsh truth.

  9. Deeps says:

    A heartfelt poem,Hitchoos! Beautifully expressed!

‘oh why do we grow up…
oh why should we put up’-I wonder why too !

Have to say, of your poems, I liked this one the best 🙂 Keep it coming 🙂
