I am an ardent fan of cinema and when I love movies… I love watching them over and over again.
.
While I dont like completely illogical and impractical movies that question my intelligence… I dont always go to movies for just logics … its a wonderful world in the 3 hours of the cinema hall… I get totally involved and can mostly feel the stories… yes… I m a sucker if you might call me one… !
.
So when Soha Ali Khan in Rang De Basanti says “Maar dalo use.. (defence minister)” I am with her and I get goose flesh as I get ready to pull the trigger,
when in Swades Geeta tells the NRI SRK, “Atleast I am trying to make this a better place… !” I echo her sentiments completely and feel the pride of being here !!
When Thakur in Sholay snarls at Gabbar and says, ” Gabbar, yeh haath nahi … faansi ka phanda hai… !” I am totally compelled to believe so… !
.
My family and my friends now all at times ridicule me and at every emotional scene turn to see me weep away… and I really couldnt care less… I have over come the awkwardness I used to feel earlier… I get choked with emotions when I try to sing Yeh jo desh hai tera… or Meri Maa Mumma song from Dusvidaniya or Maula mere le le meri jaan from Chak De ! Tears simply roll out at every slightest display of emotion whether its by a bearded SRK in Chak de or a fat Vinay Pathak in Dusvidaniya or Hritik in Lakshya when the confused young man points towards peak 5179 and fails to utter even a single word but just huffs and puffs emotions everywhere… I just cant help it…
.
Two days in a row I saw 3 idiots and am still not content… I simply loved the movie… and nope, sorry boss but I cant bother to delve in the silly fault finding critics do… I simply loved it way too much to go into that… ! A guy is telling a story and has to use certain make believe elements, its cinema not a science experiment is it ?? Although he uses the same cliched jokes and techniques we all have used all our lives seeing it on screen being spoken at the most apt of times gives an amazing feeling of familiarity… its the connect the story teller establises with his audience… more so with me… !!! Watching the college and hostel days come alive this sucker for nostalgia absolutely adored the movie and so many memories just flashed by I cannot tell you !!!!
.
This is cinema at its emotional and hilarious best !!!! If you havent seen this movie 3 idiots you must right away… this guy Hirani makes some really good movies and this is one you dont want to miss… !!!
.
Here is the best song of the movie in my view… what a tune and what wordings…. remembering the old college days and the old friends for whom we used to feel so wonderfully … just listen to this…
.

Must see 3i! Thanks, Hitchy!
Me : Absolutely a must see… for some lovely entertainment !
i am dying to see it…. had plans to see it first day but went to pune…
will see it in a day or two
I am sure you will love it Monu !
Err… Is this Hitchy turning into Vindoo 😆
Have yet to see this movie, but am sure I’ll love it 🙂
Vindoo ?? I missed the joke or attempt to pull my leg whatever… !! kindly explain ! you must see it !
Vindoo is Dara Singh’s son i think but I fail to see the connection 😮
thank god you didnt see any connection !!!!!!!! 😛 😛
Rakesh !!!! bhai vidambana door karo !!!!!
or does he mean Vidhoo vinod chopra…in that case Hitchwriter u must take it as a compliment & accept it gracefully 😀
yea yea… Vidhoo Vinod Chopra is a compliment without doubt.. !!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀
He is a passionate movie maker !!!!!! 😀
arey you dimagi people – Vindu Dara Singh is similar in the sense he also cries at every possible moment…
I thought Rakesh called you Vindoo because of the title. Hahahaha
Vindoo cries at every moment and also calls everyone Bewakoof, kameena…
I don’t think VVC is a compliment. Just my opinion. He is one of the most insecure people in the industry and also believes in ‘I am the best one out there’. 😉 Do you Hitchy?
Whatever… I like Nancy’s interpretation better… plus I like his movies… and not him as a person !!!!! 😛
and I m sure its atleast better than Vindu !!!
Tauba ! 😳
VVC is insecure and thinks he’s the best???
How do you get all the inside gossip Solilo?
Rakesh coz Sols is the Don and her hold is not limited only to bloggywood but bollywood too 😆 😛
We are planning to see it! Thank you!
lol never mention that Sandhya go watch it !!!! 😛
Saw it, going to see it again one of these days… I must say I agree…Completely amazing movie….
its the sort of thing you need to go to a hall… its an absolutely good time in the hall !!!! and best is you dont even bother about the popcorn or coke !
Awwww….such a lovely post Hitchy. Abt the tears thing I too am exactly like tht. There r some movies I cry at some particular scenes, doesnt matter how many ever times I watch them.
I too want to watch 3 idiots and Avatar!!!
Till date when the Haathi in Haathi mere Saathi dies I cant stop my tears… !!! Yess… I very much always feel the same emotions and some songs I cannot even sing coz there are too may emotions inside me… !
You must see the movie… 3 idiots its beautiful and fun ! 😀 😀
Regardsing Avatar, I m kinda bored of that sort ! I kinda loathe sci-fiction films and this jumping dinosaur sorta movies now… !
Oh I knw which scene u r talking abt….there is this scene in Kabhie Haan Kabhie Naa where Shah rukh tells the truth at a party, his father abuses him and there’s a song. I dont really fancy SRK but this scene always touches me :-(.
Actually I want to watch Avatar for the special effects. U see once upon a time I used to be a Multimedia trainer….so just like to keep track of the animation scene 😀
there are many like those… I dont fancy SRK either… but all his scenes in Swades and Chak De make me all weepy !
So May you enjoy Avatar !! I have no connections with multi media !!! and I prefer animations any day !
I know just what you mean about HAathi MEre Saathi Dhiren…I always cry during that scene 😦
saw it as a lil girl and bawled my eyes out in the hall 😦
Haathi mere saathi was an eternal favourite while growing up !!!!
tigers come for dinner at his wedding, and lions and wild goats !!!!! aha aha !!! wonderful !
I WANT A WEDDING LIKE THIS!!!!!
forget relatives!!! i’d rather have tigers and wild goats…..as long as some guests don’t devour other guests!!
🙄
i loved Haathi mere Saathi too…. and yes… i cried too!!! and then i cried some more coz i wanted a pet elephant…. then my mom was close to crying coz i was giving her a headache! 😛
lol… ! when young we visited a park in mysore where they let you hold tiger cubs in your hands and I wanted to steal one and bring home… lol… Mom & Dad were like enough enthusiasm boy ! but thats just way to far… !!!!
Blimey Crafty 😯 ..in that case I will come to your wedding locked inside a cage and your jungle friends can throw the wedding feast at me while I jump around trying to gobble down payasam and punjabi chole together
I am still not convinced! 😛
Can’t fanthom how 3 men in their 40s or late 30s can play college students!!
Hirani is a brilliant film maker though!
you’re hard to please.. 😛
😛 😛
Hehe!!
get over the age of the actors and actually see what the story teller is saying !!!! 😛
I read the book. Not impressed! 😛
Though, I do want to see what Hirani has done with the book and story line…
Still not convinced! 😛
I havent read the book and I wont !
you havent even seen the movie and you said you are not convinced how they act as collegians ????????
go watch it and then talk !!!!!
Like I said – 40 yr olds as college students? Really?
I don’t think so. 😛 😛 😛
dont watch it… !!! your loss !!!!
I wasn’t really excited about this movie for the same reasons as Pixie
I too wasn’t impressed by the book. ……But now I have come to know that this movie is only “loosely” based on the book…so loosely that Chetan bhagat doesn’t even get a mention in the credits….lol…so I guess there is hope still
But then the doubts about 40 year olds playing college students remained….. until I came across this pic in TOI on Sunday……..Check the pic yourself…
http://lite.epaper.timesofindia.com/getpage.aspx?pageid=13&pagesize=&edid=&edlabel=CAP&mydateHid=27-12-2009&pubname=&edname=&publabel=TOI
Thankfully I had not read the book nor did I know its story… ! plus what I learnt from most people is that its got very lil connection !
while I saw the movie I never noticed that its 50 year olds… like I said i m ready to over see mintue things and more ready for the story the story teller wants to tell me… !! 😀 😀
Go see the movie… its breaking records !!!!
When I saw this picture in the paper, I could NOT spot Amir khan amongst a group of school kids…After reading the caption which said Amir Khan with school kids, I had to look again ….as in ” Kahaan hai Amir Khan???…lol
Now I am begining to get convinced that Amir Khan “looked” the role he played.
I am definitely going to see this movie….no doubt about that.. 😀 😀 😀
Amitabh and Rajanikanth are still acting as Heros! Why not Aamir and Maddy dear 😉 !
40 plus Aamir as Rancho was a treat to watch and am sure I would have cursed the entire bollywood fraternity if the role was acted out by some inexperienced 20 plus something like Ranbir Yucky Kapoor
Ranbir is a very very very cool actor !!!! dont call him yucky !!! Puhleez !
u beat me to it man!! i saw the movie myself on the weekend… gonna do a review on it soon…u n i look at bollywood very differently my friend…
now tell me what did you not like in the movie… seems like its time for a debate !
chup ho jao sab…
yahan do hafte baad release hogi…
isliye…shut up…do not give out even hint of the story..
I aint giving a hint at all !!!!! lol… !!! 😀 😀 watch it as soon as you can !!
One of the To-Do-Things 🙂
indeed ! 😀
super post about a super movie
i missed the first 10 minutes , thanx to Mumbai traffic
I know I have to watch it again
but a must see for all
and I just loved the 44 year old Aamir in 22 old get up
and he did a good job
from start to end there is just one word wowwwwwwwwwwwwww
your in mumbai ????? i thought you were in amreeka !!!!!
I for one never thought of the age angle… i was more lost in old college days… the confusions, the ragging, the hostel, the expectations, the quanderies !!!
The movie totally told me to do your thing sort !! 😛
I am dying to Watch 3idiots…Have planned for all the frnds to meetup and watch it the coming satday..
everyone i know is telling me its a must watch..
it indeed is !!! go asap !!! 😀
You like 3I? I know Aamir might have done a great job, and the movie is well made etc, but Aamir as an engg student? No! No! NO!
go watch it once… ! then tell me
But songs are good, all except the Pagal Stupid Mom one…why would you call your mom stupid?
LOL, its not pagal stupid mom !!! Its pagal stupid mann !!! 😀 😀 😀
Ahhh really? Now that makes sense.
Shilpa… it happens… once you go to Amreeka… the indian accent is sorta hard to fathom !!!! 😈
Arey…….mera insult………on the contrary mujhe laga this was ‘man’ in american accent…..so I thought it was mom…..ahh…forget!
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
Shilpu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even i thought was “Mom”
ANd i have seen amreeka only on geography book ka map!!!!!
😆 😆 😆
ROFL at Shilpa and to be honest I was laughing out loud watching the song in theatre yesterday thinking of Shilpas comment here 😆 I think Shilpa’s mom version made sense though after Aamir tells Kareena his funda about how he came to know the watch was her dead mothers 🙄
😦 yaar mera bada joke hogaya! I was thinking of myself too when I was watching the movie this past weekend!
Agree about tears. I cried copious amounts watching Namesake, TZP and Akele Hum Akele Tum….sigh!
I have yet to see Name sake !
Arey watch Namesake, I can guarantee tears. It is an awesome movie. Irfan and Tabu are amazing.
Oh ya Hitchy !!! I get too involved with the characters when I watch a movie ! and Ohhh I cry like a kid watching a movie; I still cry when I watch the dad dying scene in The Lion King ! 😀 😀 😀 😀
As for 3 idiots, its a feel good movie. But I didnt like quite a few scenes (the delivery sequence) and the reason behind aamirs disappearance is not convincing enough ! I mean, if he treated them as real good friends, he wouldnt just away from his friends for 10 loong years. and for 10 looong years, they couldnt find his whereabouts in Shimla or what ? Anyway, like you mentioned, a movie should be treated as movie ! 😀 😀
5 years !!! not 10 was it ??
a movie is a movie after all !!! plus when I like something … i m ready to believe what they want me too… !! like i said you can call me a sucker… but thats what it is !!!! 😀 😀 😀
most entertaining movie !
It was 10 years 🙂
Hey.. Liked da way u hav penned things here.. Me too a movie buff.. Love da song ma meri ma mumma..me too get sumtimes get into da scene n cry.. But not always..cant wait to see 3i after readin ur post n da way u hav described it..
me gets into the scene once too often… ! lol !
Saw the movie today and totallly loved it..every word, every dialogue every scene..and infactbeen reliving the movie all thru the day.. wanna watch it again.. few more times!!! 🙂
Cheers ! 😀 😀 😀 😀
I totally concur !!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
Oohhh, AAroo, I was hoping to watch it with you!!
Everybody is saying this movie is fun, I liked the song too… guess I might just watch this one 🙂
go watch it !!!! and relive your college days !!! 😀 😀 😀
If our plans go well then we will catch the movie this weekend. From what I listened, I didn’t like the songs but then Raju Hirani prefers popular songs to quality. I love the simplicity of his movies.
two songs…
Behti hawa sa tha woh…
and
saari umra hum mar mar ke jee liye…
listen to them again properly best is once you see the movie… you will like them a lot more…
i absolutely loved these two songs !
as i told u ystrday…
i loved the movie…. but felt it had its share of flaws too. but yes an enjoyable watch. and i shud say, a must watch for pushy parents and meek kids.
each movie has its flaws… !!
Remember Sholay ?? the whole world knows where Gabbar is… just not the police !! 😛
Remember Deewar ?? the aethist loses his life for the 786 Badge !!!! 😛 😛
But i simply loved the thought behind the movie… and it was a flashback to college life !!!! 😀 😀 😀
Deewar is totally over-rated!! 😛
i hope you have seen that movie !
i totally agree with you… i too watch movies for the Mazaa (and mazaa does not necessarily mean happy fun.. it is the ‘Nav-Ras’ in it) only.. that is why i can watch almost any kind of movie…… 😀
haven’t seen 3 idiots yet..
absolutely a must watch !!! and I kinda am ready to do a bit of believing for good movies and good movie makers… ! it cant always be real and logical !!! or else it would be boring !!! 😛 😛 😛
you will love this movie… take my word !!! 😀 😀
Me waittting to c this movie ….. after reading this post tho, I am ready to run away from here and catch it 😉
Its a must watch Swaram!!!!!!! And be ready for a laugh riot!!!
Masood just spoke for me !!! 😀
I saw it on Friday, the day it was released and loooooved it.
we took ibrahim with us assuming he’s gonna be cranky and I’d have to keep rushing out of the hall every few minutes to keep him entertained…
but the little one slept right thru the movie..for the entire 3 hrs!!!!!! Can you believe it? And this was his first time in a movie hall.
And I could watch the movie without a break.
what you said is so true for me as well….I get totally involved in the movie…i love watching it for the experience…feel for each character and enjoy it rather than to break it into bit and pieces like a critic…ofcourse that holds true only for good movies!
BTW your son’s first movie was quite nice… !
my first movie was KRANTI !!!!!!!!!!!!! although I havent brought anything of it in life yet… !!!!!! 😛 😛
My favorite comic scene of the movie was the examination papers part….
Even when i think of that scene now, I start giggling!!!!
Though I do think the delivery scene could have been avoided….it was the only misfit in an otherwise fabulous movie!!!
i guess the delivery scene and karina’s wedding scene are teh two melodramatic episodes.. but well… we have seen much worse before… !!!
plus i thought it wasnt overboard… ! most improtantly.. !!!11
the best scene i still think was Silencer delivering the speech !!!!!! the only bad thing is my son is suddenly using the word Balatkar !!!!!! 😳
i hope he forgets it soon !!!!!
I thought it was an awesome movie… we go to movies to have fun and tht I had aplenty watching this movie !!!!! 😀 😀 😀 D
The chamatkaar and the dhan… reworded… ROFL… 😛
the scene had me laughing my guts out !!!!!!!!! unbelievable and how the guy keeps a straight face… infact that guy has acted superbly in the whole movie !!!! 😛
Hi5 Hitchy Partner…me too loved the killing speech of silencer and the whole set of desi umreekans who accompanied us for the movie thought I was just discharged from a mental asylum after hearing me howling at his speech 😆 That guy Omi did an excellent job throughout the movie and his South Indian Hindi accent kinda backfired on me as I was the only south indian in our group 😳 Hmmmpf!!!! They teased that I had a soft corner for Omi’s acting skills just bcoz he portrayed a southie….bahhhh. I said in that case what the hell am I doing married to a north indian jawaan? 😛
That is a glowing tribute from you for the movie. I must watch it too.
Everyone that enjoys a good laugh must !!!! 😛
Thanks Hitchy for your review 🙂 I love any movie which has Aamir Khan in it! I am waiting impatiently for the DVD now.
I saw it twice in the hall and once on DVD !!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀
Seems liked you are excited about this movie bhai 😀 😀 i Have this movie and loved it 🙂 🙂 certain parts are really hilarious 🙂
Absolutely !!!! I loved it ! 😀 😀 😀
Saw it too… and going for it again, tomorrow with the FB 🙂
And yes, Dhiren, back for a bit now 🙂 🙂 Thanks for the reccomendation for the award… 🙂 And for looking up the space, and looking out for me 🙂 Means a lot 🙂

Amen !!!
Happy New year to you tooooooooo !!!!!!!
(((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))
Just bcoz of your post I dragged everyone to a theatre 40 miles from here to watch the movie and thank god everyone found it worth the trouble on a snowy evening or I would have been buried alive under 20 inches of snow It’s a paisa vasool movie and I was surprised to see Aamir 😯 I had watched Ghajini three days back and was thinking Aamir was looking so old and in this movie he was all hip hop and young 🙂
😀 😀 😀 😀
movies mein take my word !!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀
I aint saying its the best movie ever made… but any one that enjoys a good laugh must see it… !!!!! entertaining and total paisa vasoool !!!! 😀 😀 😀
Dhiren, finally watched the movie yesterday. Great movie but not the movie of the decade as people are calling it.
But listen, how to go to Laddakh? Man, I so wanna go there. Those planes.
come down to india this june and we all drive away !! simple… didnt you see the pics i put for tara’s birthday !!!1
wait i ll share pics of my friends ladakh trip in picasa… !! just see them !
no not the movie of the decade… ! but thorough fun wasnt it ???
that cinematography of roads of himachal and ladakh were bliss werent they !!!
Dhiren,
Sure If you plan this road trip, I promise I will come. I can confirm from now itself. Let’s plan. I can come for 7 to 10 days and we can do an awesome trip / trek whatever u plan.
I m sure you can promise… ! but thing is I m shifting in april and new job et all so I myself m unsure… !!! I m more hopeful at the moment than sure ! and thats why i m not reliable… but you must do the circuit or something… when ever you come just let me know about a month in advance.. and then we see what can be done !!! 😀 😀
Count me and my husband in if you guys plan a Ladakh trip… I promise to drive you guys safely to Ladakh Ohhh we might even stay back in Ladakh forever and you guys can come back 😀
Too many drivers now… 😛 Everybody wants to drive, seems like we’re in college again.
have been planning to watch 3 idiots, every time due to some ‘unavoidable circumstances’ had to postpone the plans…now it seems, am the only one who hasn’t watched it till now :o…
Total paisa vasool. I am so happy that such a nice, heart-felt movie is being lauded by everyone. And like you said, Aamir does complete justice to his part. For me, the star was Sharman. That guy is something!
the song you have here is my favorite. thanks . can’t wait to see this movie.
btw a very happy and happening 2010 to you.
still havent seen the movie 😦 😦
*you are not going to disown me as your sis are you? * I mean such a movie crazy bro and here sis cant even see one good movie he has recommended! 😀
trying to take out time to watch it soon 🙂
Just want to see this 3i movie, after reading a lot abt it !!!!
Hitch, you’ve company – I too get emotional watching that song in Chak de and got into the same emotion like Soha in RDB – it happens to me naturally and everyone at home teases me to great lenghts abt it. My Dad too is like that – he cries at each and every scene of the movie even after watching it a dozen times !!!!
