Monsoon visits in the Himalayas are a bounty of fruits. Picking fresh fruit is a daily chore for most people with trees. We stayed at a friends place in Buhad who we first met two years ago in a Mela and he invited us to his home for tea since we seemed someone new in that land. That day after tea, he served fruit, then beer, then Chhole, then drinks then more and more food followed. The visit to an unknown person's house for tea at 6pm lasted till 1am. When we barely made our way down the hill from Buhad to the road at night we had made a friend in Rajinder. That time he was building a cottage in the midst of apple, plum, apricot and cherry trees. Totally wooden and the sort of house we all dream of in the woods. This year he invited us for dinner and he was no longer unknown to us. His cottage was ready, beautiful to boot, wooden and balconies perched out where you could pluck and eat plums! Dreams I tell you. @xplore_more_ infact slept in the balcony that night, where birds woke him up at 5.30 with their sweet chirps. The lives of some of these locals are so rich and so pure and so fulfilling we city dwellers may never be able to comprehend.
